![]() The atmosphere was filled with an air of excitement and wonder, perfectly tailored to cater to young minds eager to discover the world around them. This enchanting museum truly stands as a beacon of inspiration and learning for both children and adults alike.įrom the moment we stepped through the doors, I could sense that this was not an ordinary museum. There are definitely others around the country that are better but if you have kids, this is a good way to spend a few hours.Īs a seasoned traveler and enthusiast of exploration, I had the pleasure of visiting the Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga, TN, and it was an experience that left an indelible mark on my heart. On the whole, as a children's museum goes, this does the trick. If there is an event going on somewhere in town (for us, there was a Lookouts baseball game), be ready to walk if you aren't there within the first hour or so of the opening time. We were ready to leave after about two hours and the lot was totally full. Parking is in the back but again is very limited ESPECIALLY if you don't get in early. ![]() We brought our own snacks so I can't tell you much about the food situation (if there even was one). Previous comments about crowding are very true and with masks not being mandated here, if that is a concern for you, you might want to look at off hours. Since this area is in the front, it fills up real quick so I would recommend you either come in when it first opens or toward closing time. It is tall and can support the average adult if your little one realizes how high they are and freaks out. The keynote section, however, is the jungle gym/water table area. They are for all ages as they include everything from stamps and paper chains to full on "making" with varying materials. The art section contains a lot of hands-on arts and crafts. There are also microscopes to look at microscopic portions of plants and animals as well as tanks for bigger live animals like lizards and cockroaches. There is a sandy beach area where kids can "dig" for dinosaur bones. They have a pretty sizable dinosaur and nature section. My daughter was involved in the hands-on activities while I looked at these different instruments from Asia, Africa, and North America. They are from all over the world and vary between string, percussion, and wind. What is there is nicely varied and should keep your child(ren) edu-tained for a couple hours.įrom a learning standpoint, I enjoyed the musical instruments in the music section. There was some pretty substantial construction going on so you won't get the full effect.
